Basketball

A basketball game is taking place in a well-lit indoor court, with players on both teams engaged in the match and a referee overseeing the proceedings.

Holy Trinity Boys & Girls Basketball: Teamwork, Skill, and Faith on the CourtWelcome to the Basketball program at Holy Trinity Catholic School & Preschool. As a premier winter sport, our boys and girls basketball teams compete in separate CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) leagues, providing exciting competition while instilling values of discipline, sportsmanship, and community. Rooted in our school's Christ-centered mission to nurture students spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally, basketball helps young athletes develop skills, confidence, and character that extend far beyond the gym.

From developmental teams focused on fundamentals to competitive varsity squads aiming for championships, Holy Trinity basketball fosters Charger pride and brings families together in support of our student-athletes.

Program Overview

Holy Trinity fields separate boys and girls teams in the CYO league, with divisions including B Team (typically lower grades like 5th-6th) and Varsity (7th-8th grade). Lower grades, such as 5th, often have dedicated teams emphasizing fun and skill-building.

Boys Basketball: Competes in the boys CYO division, focusing on teamwork, passing, and resilience.
Girls Basketball: Plays in the girls CYO division, building strong bonds through competitive play and often achieving top placements, like recent championships.
Coached by dedicated volunteers and staff, practices emphasize dribbling, shooting, defense, and game strategy. CYO rules ensure participation, with everyone getting playing time on developmental teams. Varsity levels prepare players for high school with intense preparation and a drive to win. Games against other Catholic schools create a supportive, faith-filled atmosphere that unites the San Pedro community.

Benefits to Students

Basketball at Holy Trinity offers holistic growth, complementing our academic and spiritual curriculum with dynamic physical and emotional development.

Alumni Success Stories

Holy Trinity basketball alumni shine at the next level. Standouts like the Rogosic twins (Anthony and Tyler) dominated CYO play before excelling at San Pedro High School, earning scholar-athlete honors. Others, including Benny Weischedel and Brandon Hrboka, contributed to city championships and All-League teams, crediting our program for building fundamentals, work ethic, and respect that propelled their high school success.
